PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup system capable of improving operability more than conventional one. SOLUTION: The image pickup system has: a first image pickup part and a second image pickup part for performing processing to output image pickup signals in accordance with an image of an object; a display image output part for performing processing to output to a display part images in accordance with the images of the object on the basis of the image pickup signal; a recorded image output part for performing processing to convert the image of the object into image data and to output them to a recording medium on the basis of the image pickup signal; an identification information determination part for detecting the kind of the first image pickup part and the kind of the second image pickup part; and a control unit for setting and controlling over whether or not respective associated parts related to respective functions are coordinated to perform processing in each of the functions performed by combination of processing performed by at least two of the first image pickup part, a second image pickup part, a display image output part, and the recorded image output part, on the basis of the detection result by the identification information determination part.
