<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aromatic polyimide comprising a specific chemical composition and having extremely high toughness and extremely high gas barrier properties, and a process for producing it. <P>SOLUTION: The aromatic polyimide comprises a 3,3',4,4'-biphenyltetracarboxylic acid-derived constitutional unit, a 4,4'-oxydiphthalic acid-derived constitutional unit, and a paraphenylenediamine-derived constitutional unit. The 4,4'-oxydiphthalic acid-derived constitutional unit is 75-3 mol% of the total amount of tetracarboxylic acid components (3,3',4,4'-biphenyltetracarboxylic acid plus 4,4'-oxydiphthalic acid). The aromatic polyimide film has a tensile breaking strength of 400 MPa or higher and a tensile breaking elongation of 35% or higher. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
