PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing vinyl polymer powder having improved impact resistance without deteriorating the thermal stability and hydrolysis resistance of a thermal resin, and to provide a thermoplastic resin composition containing the vinyl polymer powder obtained by the production method. SOLUTION: This method for producing the vinyl polymer (A) powder comprises spray-drying a vinyl polymer (A) latex obtained by emulsion-polymerizing a vinyl monomer in the presence of an emulsifier having a radically polymerizable double bond to recover the polymer as the powder.
