PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To promote communication between users in the presence of amusement and safety. SOLUTION: Speech messages are sequentially acquired after a video telephone is started between two communication terminals, and each of the communication terminals is caused to display photographed images or avatar images as alternatives for the photographed images according to whether there is a word among a plurality of words registered beforehand, matching with or similar to a word included an acquired message. For example, the users each register a plurality of favorite words matching with his or her taste and idea in advance, start a video telephone using the alternative image first, then change the alternative images to the photographed images when one of the users utters a favorite word registered beforehand. It is considered that each user wants to see the face of a partner having the same interest, so that such user's feelings are guessed and the alternative images are switched to the photographed images.
