A soluble oil composition comprising a mixture of liquid hydrocarbon, a surface active agent and butyl Cellosolve that is particularly adapted for use as a displacement fluid in a miscible flooding process. The soluble oil composition can be employed as a substantially anhydrous liquid or as a water-in-oil microemulsion.
