PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate an unnecessary restoration operation for ink to be not used in the next recording, thereby reducing a consumption amount of waste ink and a time period for the restoration operation. SOLUTION: In a process before recording, a restoration operation of only a nozzle row to be used in the recording is carried out. In a recorder having inks of Bk, C, M and Y, when the recording by using only the ink of Bk is to be carried out, the recorder accepts only a restoration request for a nozzle row of the ink of Bk.
