PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To establish the technique in which at the time of producing metallic-iron by heating and reducing the mixture containing iron oxide and carbonaceous reducing agent, on and after end stage of solid-reduction, especially reoxidation of metallic-iron at the carburize-melting time is suppressed as possible, and erosion of refractory on the furnace hearth is suppressed by restraining the mixture of FeO into reproduced slag as possible, and the metallization is high and pure degree of the iron content is high and slag-free granular metallic iron can efficiently and continuously be produced at high yield. SOLUTION: Raw material-formation containing carbonaceous reduced agent and iron oxide-containing material are heated in a reducing and melting furnace to solid-reduce the iron oxide in the formation and carbon in the carbonaceous reducing agent is carburized into the reduced iron produced with the solid-reduction and the reduced iron and gang component-contained in the raw material-formation is separated and also, when the granular metallic iron is produced by agglomerating the molten reduced iron, the reducing degree of atmospheric gas near the formation at the carburizing-melting time, is held to≥0.5.
