PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading device with excellent convenience in use by preventing the drop-off of a document from a paper delivery tray and the scattering of the document to the periphery of the paper delivery tray at the release of an upper unit accompanied by maintenance work such as jam processing or the like. SOLUTION: The image reading device 1 is provided with a lower unit 3; the upper unit 4 supported to the lower unit 3 so as to be turnable in opening and closing, and forming a conveying passage 2 of the document between the lower unit 3 and it at a closing turn; the paper delivery tray 6 supported so as to be turnable to the upper unit 4 and stacked with the document delivered from the conveying passage 2; and interlocking mechanisms 6a, 6b and 3a for turning the paper delivery tray 6 in a direction approaching the upper unit 4 in conjunction with the opening turning operation of the upper unit 4 when the upper unit 4 is opening-turned to release the conveying passage.
