An antenna device having a dielectric substrate with upper and lower surfaces, an ultra wide band (UWB) conductive radiating component formed on the upper surface and provided with a feedline, and an electrically-conductive groundplane formed on the lower surface and extending at least partially across a width of the lower surface of substrate underneath the feedline on the uppersurface but not underneath the radiating component on the upper surface. The groundplane has an edge facing towards the radiating component, the edge being crenellated or castellated.
