<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately obtain the detection result of a gradation level. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 1 includes: an image forming means 30 for forming a patch image on an image carrier 15 or a recording medium P in order to correct image forming conditions; a patch detecting means 30 for detecting a patch image formed by the image forming means 30.
