PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal retrieval system and a portable terminal retrieval method, capable of retrieving a position of a portable terminal even when a pair of the portable terminal and a SIM card does not become the original one. SOLUTION: Pieces of information about a telephone number, a serial number and purchase history of the portable terminal 5 are managed by a management part 33 of a mobile communication center 3, when there is the purchase history of the retrieved portable terminal 5(1), a serial number of the retrieved portable terminal 5(1) is collated with the managed serial number, when both serial numbers do not match, the managed telephone number is inversely retrieved using the serial number of the retrieved portable terminal 5(1), positional information about an inversely retrieved portable terminal 5(2) of the inversely retrieved telephone number is acquired and the acquired positional information is transmitted to a retrieving person by superimposing the acquired positional information to a map. Thus, the retrieved portable terminal 5(1) is retrieved by inversely retrieving the telephone number from the serial number even when the pair of the portable terminal 5 and the SIM card (illustration is omitted) do not become the original one.
