PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform image processing of subpixel level on an image when the image is output on an image display device. SOLUTION: A video display device outputs display device information including physical resolution of a display device provided therefor and subpixel information to a hard disk recorder 110 through an HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) cable 130. A reception section 114 of the hard disk recorder 110 receives the display device information and outputs it to an image processing section 116. The image processing section 116 converts the resolution of image data S0 saved in an HD 120 to the physical resolution of the display device included in the display device information and outputs the resulting image data. The image processing section 116 performs processing of subpixel level based upon the subpixel information included in the display device information in the resolution conversion.
