PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotation detector that has a simple structure and can accurately detect the absolute angle with high resolution, and to provide a bearing with a rotation detector mounted with the rotation detector. SOLUTION: This rotation detector 1 comprises two magnetic encoders 2A and 2B that are disposed in a concentric ring shape, have magnetic string patterns 2Aa and 2Ba having magnetic poles arranged on the circumference, and have different number of magnetic poles, and a plurality of magnetometric sensors 3A and 3B for detecting the magnetic fields of the respective magnetic encoders 2A and 2B. Each of magnetometric sensors 3A and 3B has a function of detecting information on the positions in the magnetic poles of each of magnetic encoders 2A and 2B. The rotation detector 1 also comprises a phase difference detecting means 6 for determining the phase difference of the magnetic field signal detected by each of the magnetometric sensors 3A and 3B, and an angle calculating means 7 for calculating the absolute angle of the magnetic encoder based on this detected phase difference.
