PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pointer body driver which can be used in common for dial plates different in array shape of indexes, and a pointer type instrument using the pointer body driver. SOLUTION: In the pointer body driver 2 having a driver body 4 arranged for a dial plate 3 so as to indicate an index 3a arrayed on the dial plate 3, a rail section 6 arranged along the array of indexes 3a in parallel with the dial plate 3, a flexible member 5 to which the pointer body 4 is fixed and which is drawn around along the rail section 6, and a drive 7 for moving the flexible member 5 so that the pointer body 4 comes to an indicating position responsive to a measured amount along the array of the indexes 3a, the rail section 6 is deformable along the array of the indexes 3a.
