PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing a porous metal complex having high purity and a large surface area. SOLUTION: The method is one for producing a porous metal complex containing a three-dimensional porous framework of a metal complex composed of a central metal and organic ligands coordinated to the central metal and having a carboxylate group and comprises a carboxylic acid halide or alkoxide esterifiable with a salt of the central metal or an oxide of the central metal is reacted as a monomer for the organic ligands.
