PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diagnostic marker specific to heatstroke, a method for the diagnosis of heatstroke using the marker, treatment target candidates for heatstroke, a heatstroke treatment method that uses the candidates, and a method for screening substances for the treatment of heatstroke. SOLUTION: The invention provides an examination method for the diagnosis of heatstroke of a mammal, including the determination of the expression of one or more genes selected from a group comprising a gene, containing a base sequence identical or essentially identical to a specific base sequence in a specimen collected from the mammal or their orthologs of the mammal.
