PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display a plurality of images (an image for the right eye and an image for the left eye) to be viewed stereoscopically with high resolution.

SOLUTION: A lighting device 10 and a liquid crystal display device 20 display the respective images having a parallax therebetween so as to be viewed stereoscopically. The display area 25 of the liquid crystal device 20 is sectioned into a plurality of unit display areas A arranged in an X direction and a Y direction crossing each other, and a driving device 50 controls the lighting device 10 and liquid crystal device 20 so that monochrome images of pluralities of color components which constitute the image for the right eye and the image for the left eye having the parallax therebetween are displayed in sequence by one or more unit display areas A.
