METHOD FOR PRODUCING OPTICAL GLASS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an optical glass using a member composed of a high strength metallic material capable of suppressing coloring upon melting and/or molding and also capable of withstanding various loads upon mass production in an optical glass largely comprising Bi2O3and/or TeO2. SOLUTION: The method for producing an optical glass comprises a process where, using a member composed of a metallic material obtained by an optical glass comprising Bi2O3and/or TeO2by≥30 mass% in terms of oxide is melted and/or molded using a member composed of a metallic material obtained by providing the surface of a base material comprising platinum or a platinum group alloy by≥90 mass% with a surface layer comprising gold by≥90 mass%.
