PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a folding type terminal device capable of obtaining desired information in either of open state and closed state without additionally providing an outside display unit capable of displaying an image alone, and a display method. SOLUTION: Provided is the folding type terminal device characterized in having an inside display unit 116 which forms a portion of an inside surface in the closed state, a display control unit 112 which controls display contents of the inside display unit 116, and a light guide unit 118 which faces a portion of the inside display unit 116 in the closed state and guides an image displayed on the inside display unit 116 to outside the folding type terminal device. With this configuration, even when no outside display unit is installed on the folding type terminal device, the image is guided to the light guide unit 118 facing the inside display unit 116 in the closed state only by mounting the inside display unit 116 to display the portion or whole of the inside display unit 116 outside in a folded state (closed state).
