A system for a moving picture message service in WCDMA mobile communication and a method therefor are provided to send a video message to the other party in case he/she is positioned in designated places or designated time has come. A moving picture message service system comprises node-Bs(11, 21), RNCs(Radio Network Controllers)(12, 22), SGSNs(Serving GPRS Support Nodes)(13, 23), GGSNs(Gateway GPRS Support Registers)(14, 24), a moving picture server(35), an HLR(Home Location Register)(36) and mobile communication terminals(50a, 50b). The node-Bs perform wireless communication by transmitting/receiving voice, image and data to/from the mobile terminals. The RNCs performe resource allocation and link establishment functions by interworking with the node-Bs. The SGSNs provide a switch and routing connection based on the asynchronous transfer mode for the GPRS(General Packet Radio Service). The GGSNs acts as a serving node of an IP(Internet Protocol)-based packet network providing the high speed packet data service for the GPRS. The moving picture server stores video messages transmitted from the mobile terminals, and transmits a corresponding video message to the mobile terminals when transmission of the corresponding video message is requested. |
