摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for automatic posture estimation based on the shape matching of a 3-D model to a range image of a scene without using manual initialization. <P>SOLUTION: The method and the system determine a posture of an object by comparing an input range image acquired of a scene including the input object to each of a set of reference range images of a reference object, such that each reference range image has an associated different posture, and the reference object is similar to the input object.
