<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that ensures improved transfer performance of an image by detecting a value of total resistance of a transfer section that transfers a toner image on an image carrier to a transfer material and then adjusting a transfer voltage/current. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus 1, intermediate transfer bodies 6 of a transfer section 40, a transfer material 15, a secondary transfer counter roller 10, and a secondary transfer roller 13 are subjected to the detection of moisture content by using an intermediate transfer body sensor 18, a transfer material optical sensor 19, a moisture meter 20 for the counter roller and a moisture meter 21 for the transfer roller. On the basis of the moisture content detection results, a control section 17 calculates the value of the total resistance of the transfer section 40. On the basis of this value of the total resistance of the transfer section 40, the resistance value of a variable resistor 16 connected between the ground and a secondary counter roller 10 of the transfer section 40 is adjusted. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
