PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light diffusion sheet having sufficient optical uniformity to cope with demand for resolution and color reproduction of users by having rapid large size of recent liquid crystal displays, and to provide a backlight unit for a liquid crystal display.

SOLUTION: The light diffusion sheet provided with a light diffusion layer including a light diffusion agent in a binder, a transparent base material and a sticking prevention layer in the order contains inorganic particulates of a refractive index of 1.70-3.00 in the sticking prevention layer or the light diffusion layer.
