PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanical pencil having a high decorating effect, by noticing an operating method of a shaking-out type mechanical pencil of which the main body is shaken on the occasion of letting out a lead. SOLUTION: In the shaking-out type mechanical pencil, the lead is let out by making a chuck of a lead letting-out mechanism advance by the inertial force of a weight body which is produced by shaking the main body back and forth. A shaft tube of this mechanical pencil has the transparent outer tube and the inner tube which is provided inside the outer tube with an aperture between. A first decorative part having a see-through portion enabling visual recognition of the inside is provided on the lateral side of the outer tube, while a second decorative part which can be visually recognized through the see-through portion of the outer tube is provided on the lateral side of the inner tube, and a third decorative part which can be visually recognized through the see-through portion of the outer tube is provided in the aperture between the outer tube and the inner tube.
