PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for machining surface grooves of a wood decorative plate by suppressing fluffing generated in the groove portions of the surface of a wood decorative plate pressing and crushing uneven parts or others caused by unvaporized solvent of coating used for coloring to form a smooth groove machined surface. SOLUTION: The method for machining the surface grooves of the wood decorative plate in which groove machining is carried out in the surface of the wood decorative plate 1 includes: a step for coloring the groove machining face formed by cutting machining, a step for drying the coating used for coloring, a heat-pressing compacting step for compressing the groove machining face with a pressing and compacting blade 3 under heating after the drying; and surface compaction step intensively compacting specific sites of the groove machining face of roller shape auxiliary jigs 4 after the heat-pressing compacting.
