The strip has a foamed plastic layer (10), and a stabilization layer (12) extended in a longitudinal direction (A) of the strip along the foamed plastic layer. The stabilization layer, which is made of multi-layered plastic, is fastened to the foamed plastic layer, where the stabilization layer has larger rigidity than the foamed plastic layer. The stabilization layer is extended in a transverse direction (B) along a section of the foamed plastic layer that is made of polyurethane-foam. A fixing unit (14, 16) fixes the strip when the strip is wound around a pipe. An independent claim is also included for a method for sealing a pipe lead.
