<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a playback apparatus for compressed image data in which an excellent high-speed search image can be realized, in relatively small hardware scale, in compressed image data of a frame fixed length. <P>SOLUTION: A playback apparatus for compressed image data comprises: a slice detecting means for detecting a top position of a slice in a stream of compressed image data and a slice position number indicating a screen position of the detected slice; a variable length decoding means which performs variable length decoding for the unit of a slice and transforms a slice into an intermediate code; an intermediate code memory for temporarily recording an intermediate code; a video signal converting means for implementing inverse transformation processing to an intermediate code read from the intermediate code memory to transform it into a digital video signal; a raster memory for recording, at a predetermined position, the digital video signal transformed by the video signal converting means; and a memory control means that reads the intermediate code of a slice written in the intermediate code memory during a predetermined period of time and sends the read intermediate code to the video signal converting means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
