PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a thermoplastic resin foamed body showing good appearance and foamability by suppressing an advance of decomposition of a foaming agent during plasticization as much as possible. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method comprises a plasticizing process of plasticizing the thermoplastic resin containing the foaming agent in a barrel of an injecting machine by a rotation of a screw and storing a predetermined amount of the molten thermoplastic resin in the barrel of the injection machine, a supply process of supplying the molten thermoplastic resin in the barrel of the injection machine into a cavity between a pair of molds, and a foaming process of foaming the resin after completion of the supply by enlarging the volume of the cavity. In the plasticizing process the thermoplastic resin is plasticized in the barrel of the injection machine until the storage amount reaches 20% or more of the maximum storage amount of the molten thermoplastic resin in the barrel of the injection machine. In the supply process the molten thermoplastic resin is supplied at an injection rate of 400 m<SP>3</SP>/sec or more within 20 seconds after completion of plasticization.
