PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system equipped with a receiver having simple circuit configuration and high sensitivity. SOLUTION: The communication system comprises a transmitter 1 that applies to a transmission medium 2 an electric field resulting from modulating an information signal, and a receiver 3 that detects an electric field via the transmission medium 2 and obtains a demodulated signal corresponding to the information signal, wherein the receiver 3 includes: a receiving electrode 31 facing the transmission medium; a plurality of sensor electrodes 32a, 32b connected to the receiving electrode; and a plurality of coils 33a, 33b provided in the plurality of sensor electrodes 32a, 32b, respectively and connected in series.
