PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tripod type constant velocity universal joint allowing smooth rolling of a needle roller with holding a good relationship of the needle roller with a washer. SOLUTION: The constant velocity universal joint comprises an outside joint member 10 in which a track groove 12 extending axially is formed at a circumferentially equal position of the circumference, an inside joint member 20 having a trunnion journal 26 projecting radially from the circumferentially equal position, and a roller assembly 30 rotatably supported by each the trunnion journal 26. The roller assembly 30 comprises a ring 32 externally fitted in the trunnion journal 26, a roller 34 guided into the side wall of the track groove 12, a plurality of needle rollers 36 arranged between the ring 32 and the roller 34, and a pair of washers 40, 42 disposed at both axial sides of the needle roller 36 and the ring 32, and having the peripheral edge mounted to the roller 34. The clearance of a pair of the washers 40, 42 decreases gradually from the outside diameter side to the inside diameter side of the roller assembly 30. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
