PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve printing quality in a printer and a method for controlling the same. SOLUTION: Driers 50, 60 for drying ink ejected on recording paper S are respectively provided on both sides of a print head 44. In the case where printing is performed by ejecting ink in association with movement of the print head 44 on the recording paper S fed on a platen 22 by means of a paper conveyance mechanism 30, when the printing is performed by ejecting the ink in association with the movement of the print head 44 in the left direction, a fan 52 at the left side of the print head 44 is turned off and a fan 62 at the right side thereof is turned on. When the printing is performed by ejecting the ink in association with the movement of the print head 44 in the right direction, the fan 52 on the left side of the print head 44 is turned on, and the fan 62 on the right side thereof is turned off. As a result, the ink deposited on the recording paper S from the print head is immediately dried, thereby the printing quality is improved. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
