<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a centrifugal compressor preventing drop of efficiency and pressure due to leak of fluid from a gap between an impeller and a casing. <P>SOLUTION: This centrifugal compressor is provided with a rotary shaft, the impeller attached on the rotary shaft and provided with a plurality of blades, and the casing holding the impeller, and applies centrifugal force on fluid to compress the fluid by driving and rotating the impeller. The casing is provided with a slit in a range from roughly 20% to 60% from an upstream side of the impeller.
