<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress degradation in image quality during compression, and to improve compression rate of image data. <P>SOLUTION: An image encoder 100 is equipped with a block division part 104 for dividing the image data into blocks constituted of a plurality of pixels and generating block data; a DCT part 106 for performing discrete cosine transformation of the block data and generating DCT coefficients; a feature analysis part 108 for analyzing the block data and generating feature data; a quantization parameter generating part 110 for referring to the block data and the feature data and generating a quantization matrix; a quantization part 112 for quantizing the DCT coefficient by using the quantization matrix and generating quantized data; and a variable length encoding part 114 for variable-length encoding the quantization data and generating variable-length encoded data. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
