PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the driving method of a display device by which natural moving image display is attained by relieving steepness of change of display luminance in the display device of hold type display system such as a liquid crystal display device. SOLUTION: Before predetermined gradation voltage (V48N, V32N) corresponding to input image data from the outside is applied to a pixel electrode 34 to perform display by predetermined display luminance (potential difference 28c, 29c), gradation voltage (V48L, V32H) with gradation darker or brighter than the predetermined gradation voltage (V48N, V32N) is applied to the pixel electrode 34 to perform display by display luminance (potential difference 28b, 29b) darker or brighter than the predetermined display luminance (potential difference 28c, 29c).
