摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To economically and highly accurately detect the viscosity of lubricants. SOLUTION: In an engine system 10, an engine oil, the lubricant of an engine 200, is supplied for a cylinder head 213 by the action of an electric pump from an oil pan 215 and returned to the oil pan 215 again via an oil drop passage 214 in a cylinder block 201 connected to the cylinder head 213. A viscosity sensor 300 is installed in the oil drop passage 214. The viscosity sensor 300 is provided with an impeller 350 to be energized and rotated by the engine oil naturally dropping through the oil drop passage 214 when the engine oil is circulated and supplied. An ECU 100 estimates oil viscosityρon the basis of a pump integral drive time T corresponding to a time delay from the start of the circulation and supply of the engine oil and the start of the rotation of the impeller 350 in the process of the execution of viscosity detection processing.
