PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detergent for water-based coatings capable of cleaning the water-based coatings in a small amount and little in foaming of waste water. SOLUTION: The detergent for the water-based coatings is obtained which contains a glycol ether amphiphilic organic solvent of 1 to 20 mass%, amines of 0.4 to 1.0 mass% as a pH adjustment agent, a surface active agent having a specific polyoxyethylene acetylene glycol skeleton of 500 to 5,000 ppm and remaining water.
