PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method by which a phosphorane compound can be produced without carrying out complicated operation. SOLUTION: The method for producing the phosphorane compound includes reacting a halogen compound represented by formula (1) (wherein, R is a 1-4C alkyl group, a 3-7C cycloalkyl group or a hydrogen atom; X is a halogen atom, a toluenesulfonyloxy group or a methanesulfonyloxy group; Y is a 2-5C alkoxycarbonyl group, an 8-9C aralkyloxycarbonyl group or a cyano group) with a phosphine compound represented by formula (2): Ar<SB>3</SB>P (wherein, Ar is a benzene ring which may have a substituent, or a furan ring) to afford a phosphonium salt, extracting the phosphonium salt by using water, and reacting the extracted product with a base.
