PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transplanter solving the problem that, in revolving a planting driving shaft at an unequal speed in a state of rough-planted roots, in the speed-reducing region of an unequal speed change mechanism, a planting drive shaft revolution is made prior to driving force due to the inertial force of a planting mechanism; as such a problem caused by the maloperation of a transmission mechanism may occur, as a measure dealing with the problem, there is provided a braking mechanism to periodically apply braking force to a transmission mechanism ranging from an unequal speed change mechanism to a planting drive shaft; however, when a planting operation is to be made in such a condition that the planting drive shaft is switched from an unequal speed revolution mode to an equal speed revolution mode, a periodical braking force expressed by the braking mechanism constitutes a contrary effect, resulting in the planting mechanism's jerky operation. SOLUTION: The transplanter is equipped with a braking force changeover mechanism 101 enabling a changeover in such a manner that, braking force by a braking mechanism 88 is made to act intensely when a planting drive shaft 20 is in unequal speed revolution, while being made to act weakly when the planting drive shaft 20 is in equal speed revolution.
