A flow meter and a method thereof are provided to effectively measure the flow rate in a pipe and efficiently process the measured flow rate. A flow meter comprises a flow sensor(190), a flow detector, and a controller. The flow sensor is located on the flow path in a pipe, includes a rotator rotating according to the flow rate, and sensed the flow rate. The flow detector detects the frequency according to the rotation of the rotator and generates the frequency proportional to the flow rate. The controller analyzes the frequency and measures the flow rate. The flow sensor includes a metering unit(219) and a permanent magnet(221). The metering unit rotates by the flow rate in the pipe. The permanent magnet is connected to a rotation axis of the metering unit and rotated. |
