HUMAN G PROTEIN-COUPLED RECEPTOR AND MODULATOR THEREOF FOR TREATMENT OF HYPERGLYCEMIA AND RELATED DISORDER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a human G protein-coupled receptor and a modulator thereof for the treatment of hyperglycemia and related disorders.

SOLUTION: There is provided a method of identifying whether at least one candidate compound is a modulator of a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) or a modulator of blood glucose concentration and the receptor comprises GPR131 amino acid sequence and the receptor conjugates with the G protein. The method comprises (a) a step of bringing a candidate compound into contact with the receptor and (b) a step of determining whether functionality of the receptor is modulated or not, wherein the change in the functionality of the receptor exhibits that the candidate compound is a modulator of RUP43 GPCR.
