<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pulse radio receiving apparatus and synchronization method, in which even a non-return-to-zero (NRZ)-coded pulse signal can be synchronized and the number of fingers is reduced, as compared with conventional Early/Late DLL scheme. <P>SOLUTION: A relative difference calculating means 1505 comprises maximum value detecting means 1551A, 1551B, minimum value detecting means 1552A, 1552B and addition means 1553A, 1553B, 1554. The maximum value detecting means 1551A detects a maximum value from among (n) pieces of continuous sample values 1504A inputted from a sample means 1504 and outputs a maximum value Amax.
