PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a "navigation device" for making a current position of one's own vehicle recognized suitably even when the own vehicle position deviates from a map matching processible tolerance. SOLUTION: When a determining means (CPU (Central Processing Unit) 11 and determining program 17b2) determines that there is no predetermined road where the own vehicle position detected by a detecting means (CPU 11, GPS positioning section 12, and detection program 17b1) is map-matched by a map matching means (CPU 11 and map matching program 17b3), a display controlling means (CPU 11 and display control program 17b7) displays, on a display section 14, the direction and distance from the current position of the own vehicle calculated by a calculating means (CPU 11 and calculation program 17b5) to a position on a predetermined road finally stored by an own vehicle position history storage means (own vehicle position history data table 17a2).
