PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for easily and adequately evaluating the life of a wet type multiple disc clutch. SOLUTION: The method for evaluating the life of the wet type multiple disc clutch from their various actually measured values comprises previously acquiring the frequency of a clutch disc surface temperature T in clutch unit element test to create a T-N diagram and acquire the absorbing energy of the wet type multiple disc clutch or a correlation between the absorbing energy and a clutch disc, calculating the absorbing energy or an absorbing energy rate from an actually measured value for the clutch disc, estimating the frequency of the clutch disc surface temperature from the frequency of the absorbing energy or the absorbing energy rate in accordance with the correlation, and evaluating the life of the clutch disc from the estimated frequency of the clutch disc surface temperature in accordance with the T-N diagram, using minor rule.
