PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ignition device for an internal combustion engine, which has a miniaturized body and excellent mountability. SOLUTION: This ignition device 1 for an internal combustion engine ignites air fuel mixture in a combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine, and includes: a primary capacitor C1 supplying current to an ignition coil 3 including a primary coil 30 and a secondary coil 31; and a secondary capacitor C2 supplying current to switching elements 23, 24 controlling primary current flowing in the primary coil 30.
