摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively provide zinc oxide ultrafine particles having high purity, uniform particle size and a number average particle diameter of 0.5-20 nm, a method for easily producing such zinc oxide ultrafine particles in a high yield, and a synthetic resin composition in which such zinc oxide ultrafine particles are uniformly dispersed without aggregating. SOLUTION: The surface-modified zinc oxide ultrafine particles having a number average particle diameter of 0.5-20 nm have been surface-modified with a≥8C carboxylic acid compound of which the solubility at 25°C in an aliphatic alcohol having a boiling point of≤100°C is≥5 w/w%, wherein the carboxylic acid compound is used in an amount of 10-100 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of zinc oxide.
