PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alcohol component detector easily used being mounted on a vehicle and constantly or periodically detecting the alcohol intake of a driver without making a measuring object person feel troublesome when detecting. SOLUTION: This alcohol component detector irradiates a light containing an alcohol absorption light component with a wavelength absorbed in an alcohol component, from a light source 20 to an area 101 including the eyes of a driver 100. This detector captures an image of the driver 100 using a camera 30 mounted with an optical filter 31 for transmitting the alcohol absorption light component, and calculates the absorption amount of the alcohol absorption light component of the driver's tears based on the acquired image to detect whether the driver 100 takes the alcohol or not.
