The invention relates to a phosphate-containing dishwasher detergent, con taining 0.01 - 20% by weight of at least one alcohol alkoxylate, 0.01 - 10% by weight of at least one alcohol ethoxylate, 0 - 15% by weight of at least one sulfonate group-containing polymer, 0 - 15% by weight of at least one hy drophilically modified polycarboxylate, 0 - 8% by weight of at least one pol ycarboxylate, 1 - 70% by weight of at least one phosphate and 0.1 - 60% by w eight of at least one further additive, components (A), (B), (C), (D), (E), (F) and (G) adding up to 100%. The invention also relates to a method for wa shing the surfaces of articles by treating said surfaces with the agent and to the use of the agent for increasing the rinsing power when articles are c leaned in a dishwasher.
