<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record a motion picture during a period of time in which concurrent still picture photographing is performed, with higher picture quality relative to other periods without troublesome time and effort. <P>SOLUTION: A motion picture recording system is constituted of a motion picture coding device 22, a coding rate control device 24 and a motion picture recording device 26 and a still picture recording system is constituted of a still picture coding device 28 and a still picture recording device 30. A system control device 32 starts or stops motion picture recording by the motion picture recording system in response to operation of a motion picture record/stop switch 34. The system control device 32 also causes the still picture recording system to execute still picture recording in response to operation of a release switch 36. With respect to still picture recording operation by the release switch 36 during motion picture recording, the system control device 32 controls a coding rate of motion picture compression via the coding rate control device 24 and temporarily improves picture quality in motion picture recording. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
