<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a proton transporting material having high proton conductivity even in a low humidified state by developing a liquid crystal phase at low temperature by decreasing phase transition temperature to 200°C or lower so as not desorb a sulfone group, insoluble in water, having high stability, excellent mechanical characteristics, and especially suitable to an electrolyte membrane for the fuel cell, and to provide an ion exchanger, a membrane electrode assembly (MEA), and the fuel cell, using the proton transfer material. <P>SOLUTION: The proton transporting material contains a liquid crystal polymer obtained by copolymerizing a sulfonic acid type monomer and a phosphonic acid type monomer as essential main components. Preferably, the proton transporting material contains a liquid crystal polymer material obtained by copolymerizing a sulfonic acid type monomer having specific molecular structure having a mesogen group and a phosphonic acid monomer having specific molecular structure having a phosphonic acid group together with a mesogen group as essential main components. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
