<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a user preference collection system for omitting an input showing user's preference to greatly reduce the user's troubles and automatically downloading information suitable to the user's preference by using information (downloaded ringtone, the frequency of receiving mails, etc., ) stored in a portable terminal device as preference information. <P>SOLUTION: When a ringtone is downloaded to a cellular phone 1, history data of the music is stored in a memory part. When the user accesses a server device to download a ringtone, the server device sends a response inquiring whether to use a recommendation system. When the use of the recommendation system is selected, the memory part sends the history data of music, and the server device analyzes the history data to obtain preference information, and retrieves music on the basis of the preference information to determine music to be recommended.
